“First the tour guide provided no information or stories regarding the sights at Kinkakuji. Very basic reading from simple book with a few sentences that I could have found more details on the internet. Next we went to Nijo castle. Again not any information or details regarding the sights. We ended up reading the panels in front of each structure ourselves to understand more. Then we decided this was a waste of our time and ask him to end the tour after 2hr even though paid for 4hr. Furthermore we had to pay for his taxi cab and forces one family member to ride with him. This was very expensive…”

The tour also involves visiting several shrines and experiencing the neighborhood both at the street level and through the eyes of a local guide. My wife and I were lucky that we were the only ones on tour with Akiko. She is absolutely fantastic in explaining…”
